(4-10-10) Take home quiz
This was a take home quiz where students had to use tables and graphs to solve linear systems.

(4-13-10) Quiz
A quiz based on study material provided from 4-9-10 to 4-13-10. The quiz was a worksheet that consisted of graphing 1 variable equations.

(4-5 to 4-9-10) Study for Re-take of Gateway Exam
This week the students were given the opportunity the come to my office hours and work on concepts they stuggled with in order to re-take the Gateway exam.

(4-12 to 4-19-10) Re-take of Gateway Exam
Students were able to come after school during my office hours and re-take the Gateway Exam pending their self-assessment completed and additional practice problems completed. This week is the last opportunity they have to re-take this pass/fail exam.

(4-7 to 4-19-10) Buying a Car Benchmark
This is an applicational project where students are able to use equations in order to calculate costs associated with purchasing a car.

(3-15 to 3-19-10) Car and Ramp Benchmark
This was a hands-on benchmark having students investigate several aspects of slope and other concepts related to graphing.

(3-26-10) Group Midterm
This was a group, open notes, open book, midterm. It was a pass/fail midterm where if the students failed the midterm they have an F for the course no matter what their percentage is.

The students had 1 problem from pg 187. They were told yesterday exactly what page the 1 problem quiz would be off of.

(3-26-10) Gateway Exam
This is the BIG exam that students take to see if they have mastered the ability to solve and rewrite equations. This is a pass/fail exam. If they do not pass this exam they fail the semester
until they retake it.

(2-9-10 to 2-18-10) Hands on Equations.
Hands on equations is a hands on approach to teaching algebra (mathematics using letters and symbols). All of the work is done in class since they are using pawns and scales that are not going to go home with them. They have 4 in class quizzes during this time and extra credit for those that move faster than the other students.

(2-24-10) Open Book Quiz Pg 940 #'s 1-20
Open book and open notes. If they did not have their book they received an automatic 0 with no chance of making it up.

This is one of the few exams that is a must pass in order to pass the class.

"Buying a Car Project" - BENCHMARK
This is a project where students will be have to compute different monthly wages, based upon their level of education, while using equations to decide on what type of cars they can afford.
